OpenAI’s new experiment, Sora 2, is already breaking the internet, but not everyone can get in. The viral AI-powered app is being described as a “social network where everything is fake, yet feels real.” From AI-generated videos to surreal interactive clips, Sora 2 is quietly redefining what online storytelling can look like.

Currently, Sora 2 access is invite-only, available to a limited number of users across the US and Canada. The app can be found on the Apple App Store under its signature navy-and-white cloud icon, but you’ll need an official invite before logging in.

How People Are Getting Sora 2 Invites

Early users report that OpenAI is giving priority access to ChatGPT Pro members who request early entry via the app. Once accepted, users receive four additional invite codes they can share with friends, similar to the early-days strategy used by Clubhouse and Threads.

To request access:

Download the Sora 2 app from the iOS App Store.

Log in using your ChatGPT or OpenAI account.

Tap “Notify me when access opens” and allow notifications.

OpenAI hasn’t yet announced a public rollout date, but the invite-based phase is helping the company stress-test its servers and moderation tools before global launch.

Why Sora 2 Is Going Viral

Unlike typical social platforms, Sora 2 is built entirely on AI-generated content. Every clip, scene, and voice is created by OpenAI’s advanced video models, meaning the app is a showcase of generative storytelling rather than real-life videos. The platform even labels all content as synthetic, keeping transparency front and center.

Creators are already sharing surreal clips, dream-like short films, imaginary interviews, and AI-animated reels, fueling social buzz and speculation about what comes next for AI-driven entertainment.

Sora 2’s rise signals a new direction for OpenAI: not just tools for creators, but full-fledged media ecosystems powered by AI. Analysts say this experiment could pave the way for future interactive AI video platforms, merging creativity, social engagement, and synthetic media ethics into one ecosystem.

For now, one question keeps spreading online, “Who really gets to step inside Sora 2 first?”
