Apple is turning the NBA experience into something far beyond a broadcast. Starting early next year, Vision Pro users will be able to watch select Los Angeles Lakers games live in Apple’s Immersive Video format, a first for sports on the headset.
The company says viewers will “feel the intensity of each game as if they were courtside,” thanks to multiple 3D camera angles that capture what regular TV simply can’t. This isn’t another replay gimmick, it’s Apple’s clearest signal yet that Vision Pro isn’t just for apps and entertainment, but for redefining how we experience live events.
So far, Apple’s immersive library has included concerts, short films, and cinematic experiments like Metallica: Live in 3D and a surreal submarine story. But the addition of real-time sports shifts the headset into a new territory, from premium gadget to a front-row portal.
To join in, fans will need visionOS 26 and access via the NBA app or Spectrum SportsNet. The full schedule of immersive Lakers games will be announced later this fall.
If Apple succeeds here, it could change what “watching live” even means, transforming every future season into an experience that feels less like TV, and more like teleportation.
