PlayStation Network (PSN) users faced connectivity problems worldwide on Monday as a major outage at Amazon Web Services (AWS) disrupted several major platforms, including Fortnite, Roblox, Reddit, and Xbox Live.
AWS confirmed that the downtime stemmed from a Domain Name System (DNS) issue affecting multiple regions. “The underlying DNS issue has been fully mitigated, and most AWS service operations are succeeding normally now,” the company said in a statement. “Some requests may be throttled while we work toward full resolution.”
The issue caused intermittent outages across several online services. Users reported login failures on PSN, while Fortnite and Roblox servers struggled to handle traffic as players attempted to reconnect. Reddit also went offline briefly before gradually recovering.
AWS said it continues to monitor its infrastructure as recovery operations progress. The company noted that some internal tools — including CloudTrail and Lambda — are still processing backlogged requests.
The outage, which affected parts of AWS’s US-East-1 region, once again underscored the internet’s reliance on a few major cloud providers to keep critical services running.
By Monday morning, most affected platforms, including PlayStation Network, were functioning normally again.
