Amazon Prime Video experienced service disruptions early Monday following a widespread outage at Amazon Web Services (AWS), which affected multiple cloud-based platforms globally.

AWS acknowledged elevated error rates and latency in its US-EAST-1 region, primarily caused by a Domain Name System (DNS) fault. The disruption impacted services hosted on AWS, including Amazon’s own Prime Video streaming platform, according to outage tracking reports.

Users reported both playback failures and login errors on Prime Video. Many could access the content catalogue, but streaming either stalled, froze, or failed to start. Status-monitoring sites flagged thousands of affected users across regions.

AWS said by mid-morning that “most service operations are succeeding normally now” and that the root DNS issue had been “fully mitigated,” though some services remained in backlog processing.

Technical analysts noted that the incident underscores the dependency of major streaming services on a limited number of cloud providers. When infrastructure faults occur, ripple effects can disrupt end-user experiences of high-profile platforms such as Prime Video.

Prime Video did not issue a separate public statement at the time of reporting. Users experiencing issues are advised to check Prime Video’s support status page and attempt basic troubleshooting steps such as restarting the app, clearing cache, or verifying network connectivity.
